In 2004, Canada recorded the entry of 90,668 foreign
workers. In general, foreign workers who want to work temporarily in
Canada must have an approved job offer and a work permit before
they arrive. Canadian employers must, in turn, have the job offer
approved or “confirmed” by HRSDC(Human Resources and Skills
Development of Canada). which works collaborately with CIC.
There are some exceptional categories where HRSDC
confirmation is not required although work permit is still needed. For
example, workersunder the North American Free Trade Agreement
(NAFTA) or skilled intra-company transferees are exempt from HRSDC
approval and the need for a work permit.
HRSDC maintains the database of skilles in demand in Canada and
also the list of high-demand occupations where no Canadian worker is
available. So while issuing a positive labour market opinion, HRSDC
considers various aspects like the impact of foreign worker onto Canadian
labour market , wages etc.
We assist Canadian employers to get HRSDC
authorization for their prospective foreign employees to whom
they wish to hire. Without HRSDC authorization,CIC does not
issue work permits. We also make applications for renewal of
work permits in Canada. Software Pilot project makes it easy for
IT professionals to work in Canada without HRSDC authorization
but a valid work permit is needed. Contact us for more info...
